Plain English Explanations

“Termination date.” “Void the order.” “Served pursuant to.” These phrases mean something specific, and if you guess wrong, it can cost you.

Every confusing term in Fill Some Forms has a plain explanation waiting. Hover over it (or tap on mobile) and we’ll tell you what it actually means for your situation.

Field-by-field guidance

Each form field comes with context:

What to enter: Clear instructions, not legal-speak.

“Reason for Application” — Briefly describe what happened. Example: “Tenant has not paid rent for October, November, and December 2025, totaling $6,600.”

Common mistakes: Things other people get wrong here.

Don’t include personal opinions or emotional language. Stick to dates and facts.

Examples: What good answers actually look like.

What happens next

After each step, we explain what comes after:

After you file, the LTB reviews your application and schedules a hearing—usually within 4-6 weeks. You’ll get a “Notice of Hearing” with the date, time, and video call instructions.

No surprises. You know what you’re getting into.

Costs up front

Before you start, you’ll know:

  • Filing fees (and whether you qualify for a waiver)
  • Timeline expectations
  • What you’ll need to bring to the hearing

The goal is informed decisions, not sticker shock after the fact.

We don’t hide the downsides

Legal processes have risks. We’ll tell you things like:

Filing an eviction application doesn’t guarantee the tenant will be evicted. The tribunal hears both sides and decides based on evidence.

Better to know now than be surprised later.
